{ 02.09.05 / 04:22 P EST } Gung Hay Fat Choy! = Happy Chinese New Year! So said my dad and Ann's mom. It's the year of the Rooster (aka Cock) and that's my year. And maybe your year. "Born in 81 but I was bred in 58..." Talked to my dad, whose birthday was three days ago. I did call him then, but didn't hear back until I called today and he called back. Babeling's out of school for the holiday. They do that in San Francisco. We talked about collaborating on icon design and me coming out in March (at the same time that Ann's going). I also got a long email from miss Sarah Fox! She's doing all kinds of stuff in Chicago still. I told her I'd probably be out in early summer. It'd be the third time I visited her, it's happened every two years and I wouldn't want to skip one especially since Joshee is there and I miss him. I'm at the Coffee Pot. With laptop and guitar. I swear, if I had a superpower it would be to shrink down objects for easy transportation. Ahh, well. I'm excited for rehearsal with Julie and Jen tonight. Oh! We got a blurb in Time Out NY. They called us funny and bubbly! { 02.08.05 / 09:34 P EST }
{ 02.08.05 / 07:53 P EST } I ate some delicious raw broccoli for dinner. Max, that's a hot guitar. Stinkadelic? It seemed okay. New pictures are here! Fresh and white eggs are here! { 02.03.05 / 07:34 P EST } Whoa! Kate signed the guestbook and I just myspace-messaged her today. Kate, what's your address? I have something for you. Oh boy oh boy. I'm on my way out to drum it up with jen.knee at Funkadelic. After which we're going to Bowery Poetry for a show-oh. Oh, oh! We got a P.A. for the big show. And a sound tech (Ann's stepdad offered, but for our set only)! I'm feeling better as the days go by. I'm sure we'll be able to figure out the sound for the rest of the night. Lots of love and chinese food breath. Ann and I had a chinese food date, it was delicious. Hey, I must like that word too. Preferably with the prefix "god-damn-". { 02.03.05 / 01:37 P EST } Yay! Oh, Dan's been updating the cheese on bread journal. Congratulations to those kids for getting a big review in the Advocate! That's a national gay magazine. And they used a big version of one of the pictures I took of Dan and Sara at Neptune Diner. Oh, here's pictures from last Friday's show. That's pretty cool. I done did my laundry already. Ate two hot chocolates, and drank a hot dog. { 02.03.05 / 10:07 A EST } To-day is laundry day, website day, and drumming day (if I can get a rehearsal space for me and miss jen.knee). I gave myself an extension on the sixth abstract extract project. It will be available soon. Went to the BUST party last night, and then Jordan's show at Sidewalk, after our last day of mixing at Matt's. Oh boy! Then Dan and Dibs and I went and listened to Dan's new cd. It sounds great! I fell asleep at night with one of the songs in my head. { 02.02.05 / 11:59 A EST } happy groundhog day! Yes Casey, I have heard of 'Tegan and Sara'. And I do admit I was a little bit fascinated by the girl-girl similarity but I believe the similarity ends there. So I don't know if Dream Bitches would ever go on world tour with them. They do have an good website (in spite of the Flash-ness) and they are from Calgary... It could work. I kind of like what I've heard off the new CD, not so much the old ones. Last night Dibs and Dan and I went to this bar that Justin Tranter's boyfriend bartends at. That was way fun. And then we went to Mama Bar (the bar with the 'Deli and Grocery' awning) and brought in some General Tso's bean curd. Delicious! The show at Superfine on Sunday was probably the best time out I've had in awhile. So many wonderful performers! We played early on. There were multiple stages, and everything went smoothly. Toby was really good (I bought his new cd and the new Double Deuce) and Dan was fuckinawesome (tight shirt performance twins with Dibs on guitar and a cover of Horsies In The City). And Schwerve at the end of the night. They did that song I like about overheard phrases. Uh-huh. Nell and Nicole left early to go back to Philly, but I'm so happy they were there. A couple of things happened earlier on that changed our visit. A girl from our school, Dagny Collins, passed away the night before. I didn't know her very well, but Nicole and Rhea did. { 01.30.05 / 11:14 A EST } Happy Birthday Sara!!!!! Oh weird, Rhea was just saying how on Friendster the little birthday cake turns green when it's the person's birthday. Yay! But I would have realized it was Sara's birthday anyway. Little mouseling! I miss you. Thank you for leaving me such nice messages in my guestbook. One of these days we will be reunited in Beverly-land or New York-land or maybe a third surprise land. And I guess I should say that Nicole arrived safely. With Nell!!! She accidentally told me ahead of time, but that was going to be a surprise. And she brought butter cake from Sketchley's bakery, and supplies to make.. apple crisp!!! We're going to make it today. Last night we had a sleepover.. me, Nell, Nicole and Rhea. After going to see Miss Lauren Marie and the Two-Timin' Three. Lauren is a friend from school. Uh-huh, it was Montserrat Night in New York. Tonight Ann and I are performing at Julie's Church event at Superfine. Nell has to leave (buh), but Nicole and Rhea will be here still. Whee! { 01.29.05 / 05:31 P EST } I've been in a weird combative mood all day. But, Ann and Sabrina and I had a swell time going to the FreeMeet and getting some stuff. And putting postcards at Etherea, Exit 9 and Kim's. Oh! We got our postcards yesterday. Ann and I left Sabrina in charge of listening for the UPS guy. But we didn't get a block towards the grocery store when we saw the UPS truck heading our way! I screamed "THERE IT IS!!!" and we chased him down. He stopped at the projects and we stood outside and accosted the man when he came out. He checked for our address in the little keypad thing and said "Yoko?" No ID required. And we have postcards. Oh, hooray for comfort in material objects and food. Ann and I got pizza, hot dogs (hers was veggie), and my new obsession: "chantico drinking chocolate". From a bad, bad place to spend money at, but my gift card makes it all right for now. I just got off the phone with Nicole. She blew a surprise to me accidentally. But I won't tell you yet... Just let it be known that I'll be having multiple visitors this weekend. I need the new perspective, I've been a little bit holed up in New York, if that's at all possible. { 01.27.05 / 10:01 P EST } Woo-hoo!!!!! I found my credit card. Some might call this a bad thing, but really, I need to be able to order band merchandise freely, without worrying about the empty quality of my checking account. Don't worry, Ann's splitting the costs with me, but she doesn't have a) a checking account or b) a credit card. She's the smartest girl I know. In the name of Dream Bitches! I set out to order... new buttons! New Buttons, I love you. ::wink:: { 01.27.05 / 02:01 P EST } Oh look! Bill's been updating his web journal. It was about time. Now I really want to know what the amazing thing Jessica did was. According to Bill I will never know. Ah. Tomorrow night we're playing at Jane Doe Books with Rachel Jacobs (an old friend) and Kimya Dawson. And Sunday's the CHURCH art show that Julie set up. And Nicole will be here for that!!! You bet I'm excited. { 01.25.05 / 11:57 A EST } You know that sexy way people smell when they smoke too many cigarettes? Like a kind of near-death reek of badass i-don't-giveafuck? Well someone around me smells kind of like that. Only it isn't sexy at all, and it's more like actual death. I'm at the Coffee Pot. No, I didn't go back to sleep after that last entry. I'm awesome. Illustrator is coming back to me like a charm. I snagged Version 8 off my iMac for a job. Magic, I tell you! Ahh, nostalgia for the Classic environment is sifting up through my sinuses and making my eyes water. Or maybe it's the cigarette stench. (And maybe the right word is 'wafting'. I like the word sift better. Wait, no, the right word is probably 'drifting'. This entry should have ended after the word stench.) { 01.25.05 / 06:39 A EST } OMG, Nell. That is the, the, thee most fucked-up dream I have ever read. And I just entered a strange one myself. By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Love, Yoko. { 01.24.05 / 11:16 A EST } I had a crazy dream. I have never dreamed of tooth loss before, but I've heard it's very common. Sometimes it's nice to wake up common. { 01.23.05 / 12:34 P EST } Holy shit! Check out that date and time. Too bad it isn't the year 2045. Actually, I don't want to be 63. I'm listening to Schwervon's Poseur now. It is a January cd. Oh! It is snowy outside. I miss Nan, we are going to have a relaxing day together one of these days where we don't talk about anything having to do with music careers. Because there are more important things... like hot chocolate and kittens. { 01.22.05 / 12:19 P EST } what?!?! I found this. I described him as eccentric at some point during the dream, and then I described him as a "codger" which I took to mean a disagreeable old man. But according to dictionary.com: codg·er Audio pronunciation of "codger" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kjr) n. Informal A somewhat eccentric man, especially an old one. You already knew that I guess. It just freaked me out that it actually meant the specific guy I dreamed about. { 01.19.05 / 01:51 P EST } Pleased to inform the world that the Coffee Pot wireless internet is back in full swing. Had lunch with Allie at Souen. She's going back to Ithaca tonight. Ordered postcards for the cd party. They bear a certain resemblance to this. If you want one mailed to you, please email me your address. { 01.17.05 / 03:37 P EST } At the work place. Getting out of here soon. I feel pretty good. How are you? Went to Cesar's last night for yelling and restaurant noise to finish up Dan's album. I finally met the little kitten. Me, Dibs, Dan, Cesar and Samantha recorded us drinking the bottle of wine that Dan had saved since early on in the recording. The record sounds awesome. Dan and I talked about how we feel like we're both having babies at the same time! We are going to be moms. Jordan came to Matt's yesterday and recorded some accordion magic. { 01.16.05 / 01:24 A EST } favorita >> 1. gum: winterfresh 2. restaurant: the friendly toast (portsmouth, nh) 3. drink: lychee bubble tea, lychee vodka 4. season: fall 5. type of weather: sixty degrees 6. emotion: "obnoxiously happiness" 7. thing to do on a half day: wonder where the other half is 8. late-night activity: eating, working, writing 9. sport: snake game on cell phone 10. city: anyplace with a seedy underbelly 11. store: beverly rummage sales the last time,you >> 12. cried: monday at rififi 13. played a sport: don't know 14. laughed: today 15. hugged someone: half hour ago (bye to company) 16. kissed someone: what kind? 17. felt depressed: this afternoon 18. felt overworked: today (in my own special way) 19. faked sick: didn't 20. lied: last night (not really, but doesn't that sound dramatic) what was the last >> 21. word you said: probably "oh really" 22. thing you ate: fried pears w/whipped cream 23. song you listened to: junk by casey with new drums by mike warren 24. thing you drank: coffee after dinner 25. place you went to: this place 26. movie you saw: silence of the lambs 27. movie you rented: don't remember last person you >> 28. hugged: nick or louise or grace knowlton (mom & charles' company) 29. cried over: same as above 30. kissed: same as below 31. danced with: don't remember 32. shared a secret with: josh 33. had a sleepover with: you 35. went to a movie with: casey 36. saw: misa, she's here 37. were angry with: bernard 38. couldn't take your eyes off: the kitten in philly 39. obsessed over: jame gumb have you ever >> 40. danced in the rain: yes 41. kissed someone: yes 42. done drugs: not extensively 43. drank alcohol: yes 44. partied 'til the sun came up: if you count the time we drove to canada 46. gone too far on a dare: i wish i did 47. spun until you were immensely dizzy: yes. 48. taken a survey quite like this before: uh huh me >> 49. name: yoko oji kikuchi 50. gender: female 51. birthday: 9 1 1981 52. single/taken: staken 53. children: no way, not for fifteen years 54. occupation: web designer, recording artist play >> 55. i'm feeling: tired! for no reason! oh wait, maybe it's because i woke up at 8:40. 56. i'm listening to: nothing 57. i'm doing: this survey, and getting ready for bed 58. i'm talking to: misa, sort of 59. i'm craving: sleep 60. i'm thinking of: tomorrow 61. i'm hating: the compulsion to read the online diaries of people i shouldn't love >> 62. love is: preposterous 63. my first love: chocolate cake 64. in love now: is this your hearse? 65. love or lust: all three 66. best love song: oh yoko 67. is it possible to be in love w/ more than one person at the same time: possibly 68. would you rather be in love or single: in love 69. is there such thing as love at first sight? no picky picky >> 77. dog or cat: cute kitten with two faces, or a french bulldog 78. short or long hair: long 79. sunshine or rain: both at the same time 80. hugs or kisses: kisses 81. summer or winter: summer 82. written letters or e-mails: all hundred 83. playstation or nintendo: cell phone 84. car or motorcycle: subway 85. house party or club: party 86. sing or dance: sing 87. freak or slow dance: freak lately >> 88. how are you today? fab fame lazy so-called best friends 89. what pants are you wearing right now?: skirt that used to be pants 90. what shirt are you wearing right now? gray with bleach stains put there on purpose and not by me 91. what does your hair look like at the moment: long and flat 92. what song are you listening to right now? nothing 93. how is the weather right now? okay, a little tired 94. who was last person you talked to on the phone? mom 95. last dream i can remember?: "something about being in a movie with divine, and stepping from one boat to another in a lake. lots of $17 pre-valued metrocards. the people i am with don't realize that the cards have any value until i tell them so, and they freak out." { 01.15.05 / 05:01 P EST } ![]() { 01.15.05 / 02:44 P EST } At Dan's. We just took some hot naked pictures of him for the cover of his new cd. He's parodying the most recent Liz Phair cover photo. It's going to be so hot! I will post a mock-up soon. Speaking of cd art, tomorrow Ann and I are going to meet and discuss ours. Going to meet my mom and Charles and my cousin Misa in an hour or two, someplace in Chelsea. I wish I didn't have so much work to get done. Tomorrow night Dibs is back from Canada and I'm meeting him at Penn Station. I talked to him on the phone the other day! Hooray for Canada! I need to get out of this city again soon. I am a bit tired from birthday vodka with Josh. Red currant and lychee did me in. { 01.12.05 / 12:33 A EST } Feeling much better tonight. Went to see In the Realms of the Unreal, the documentary about Henry Darger. The Tri-Lambs have a song where they sing about him being their dad. We invited Angela and Toby but she'd seen it and he was feeling sick. The documentary was okay, but Henry Darger's amazing. He's the awesomest dead pervert in the world. Katey and I saw a show of his back in the spring of 2002, the time we drove to New York for my court date. After the movie we (Casey and me) went to the White Horse Tavern. And had a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery, like in the song. Did you know I'd never had one before? { 01.11.05 / 05:00 A EST } Hmm, what am I still doing up? I shouldn't have taken that nap. Tonight was fun stuff at Rififi. Josh played (and read poems), Jason Rabinowitz played his awesome songs (I love that crackhead one to death). Abbey and her gang did it again (I should have bought her cd). And the Baby Skins. The place was packed! After all this awesomeness, Nan and Phoebe and Angela and I debuted our Calendar Girls song. I was burnt out, I think the crowd was too. Next time will be better. Casey and I got gross pizza afterwards. Sick and gross, Helium. I'm going to take naked pictures of Dan on Saturday. { 01.11.05 / 03:16 A EST } I hate Bernard. { 01.09.05 / 11:01 P EST } HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!!!! I bought her a jar of star anuses at the grocery store. "Went to Philly, and had a lot of fun. I was heartily impreeeeessed.. by e-eeeee-veryone" ps. Nell, we ended up at Fiume. Yay! I had the city-wide special. { 01.05.05 / 11:08 P EST } More awesome things! The christmas tree I found on the street on the way from work today. It was waiting for me on West 95th on my way to the bank and the bus. I took it by the stem (it's a very twiggy, sparse Charlie Brown tree with a stand made of a slice of tree trunk). I brought it home, and surprised everybody. It's down on the "kitchen" table, with lights and white fluffy stuffing for snow underneath. And dollar store candy and boxes of different flavored Jiffy Pop adorned with stick-on ribbons. It's Christmas!!! Ann and I rehearsed a new song (!!!). We had to re-arrange a bit of stuff. We haven't had a new song in so long. I'm excited. Randi Russo stepped in to take Lylah's place. I'm happy, I haven't heard her play since sometime in the summer, at the Blue Lounge. The new Baby Skins album. Oh my god. And I might go to Philadelphia this weekend and get to hang out with Nell. { 01.05.05 / 04:26 A EST } Awesome things: The shower I took today at my mom's. (First one this year! Gross! But I've been sick.) The bag of food-goodies my mom and Charles left for me in their fridge (kim chi, wasabi peas, tuna, chocolate things). Yum! The chocolate orange, also from my mom and Charles, that Matt and Casey and I ate today while recording keyboards (also awesome, oh my god) for the album. My four shoe organizers. Subsequently, my (in-progress) clean room. The little amp thing that Casey gave to me for a present. It is the most amazing thing in the world. He wrote "ROCK IN HELL" on it. Pre-destined for glory. It sounds insane. Tomorrow miss Anneth and I will be rehearsing for the old show this Friday... I just found all these flyers I have to hand out. It's gonna be a good one. I haven't spoken to Lylah yet but I trust that she got home all right. Happy Birthday Dashan. { 01.04.05 / 01:26 P EST } So Lylah called me last night, two hours before our show, to say she was cancelling not one, but BOTH of her shows that I set up. Umm. This was too bad because I was looking forward to hearing her. Luckily Abbey and I got Daoud, Josh, Casey and Dibs to step in for her slot and save the day, each playing one or two. Nan rocked out first. I love Nan solo. It brings me back to when I first thought she was the coolest thing ever. She has some new keyboard songs that are nice too. Especially the newest one with the keyboard part that sounds like a horse ambling along. Or a chicken. Abbey and her girls were next (after the Lylah slot roundabout) and they were amazing.. Why's she so good? I liked Nellie's songs too, and how the three of them would sit up there for the whole time but they didn't all necessarily sing at once. And then when they all did it was totally awesome. Then after me was Miss Phoebe, who played a great solo set, mostly her new songs, a few of which I'd never heard! I told her afterwards that I think each of her songs are equally important. Like, each one has an idea and follows through on it lyrically, and she makes song structure seem like a piece of cake. Damn. That was hot! Anyway, I had a good time, although my set and my hair were a bit messy. I didn't wear shoes, and I played the song from the autoharp on the little keyboard thing. I think it actually sounded better, I just have to memorize the song and remember the bridge. And I had fun rocking with Miss Chicken as well. Next week we're doing Calendar Girls. We're gonna rip your schedule open. I guess Lylah had some kind of emergency in California and had to fly back today. Having to do with some New Year's drama, I believe.. Man, this year's turning out waaay more dramatic than anyone can handle. Oh good old 2004, we loved you while you lasted! { 01.04.05 / 03:23 A EST } Oh, I was looking for the site that Nell and I used to look at to find the picture of the kitty cat with two faces. I found other pictures, but not till just now did I stumble across the site I'd been seeking: messybeast.com/freak-cats.htm Don't look if you're a scared-of-cat. Ha. I am funny. { 01.03.05 / 05:38 P EST } Hmm, hmm, hmm. Happy 1-3-5!!! Nan & I played a show on 1-2-3 (Jan 2, 2003) and tonight we're playing another one. Yay! Come on down to Rififi and get your groove on to five serious girls. Serious as in majorly awesome, not un-funny. I stayed in bed for 33 hours after New Year's. During which I uploaded the new Olive Juice site! The people love it! And check out new Velle Magazine (Leonard & Justin's site), Peter Mack has some comics up there and I love them. He's a featured artist. Speaking of art, I'm compiling quite a list of people who are submitting small works for our CD release art show in February. Email me by the end of the week if you want in. Love, Yoko. { 01.01.05 / 05:58 P EST } I didn't really burn myself. My mom called me today and asked if I was okay. I guess I kept drinking when I got home. Captain Morgan told me so. This might explain why I am still in bed! Happy New Year! { 01.01.05 / 05:20 A EST } I burned myself in the shower |
